They’ve been pretty excited to get started, but that may be due in part to the fact that Mom is their teacher (which should really be a whole other post in itself). Due to a rather crazy set of events and the very nice recommendation of an in-law and long time family friend, Emily is now a pre-school teacher. She’s currently only teaching part time in the afternoons, but she’s enjoying it so far (when she’s not stressing out about it).

Anyway, Jack and Annie went to their first day of pre-school the other day and had tons of fun. They’re already making friends and having fun with the many activities that school has to offer. The other day Jack taught me all about “Stop, Drop & Roll” and Annie told me that I should always crawl under the smoke (they were learning about fire safety last week). They also told me all about dialing 911 so I’m waiting until they decide to try it for real. I didn’t get many pictures before dropping them off cause we were in a bit of a hurry, but here they are in their new school clothes with their backpacks on.

Anyway, Jack and Annie are now 4 years old! It’s crazy to think that its already been 4 years, but they’re growing fast. They’ll even be starting preschool in the next week or so. It’s interesting to watch their personalities as they grow though. Under identical learning conditions, they’ve developed into their very own little people.

Jack has become the little jokester. He’s always trying to be funny and loves to tease his sisters. He’s also become quite addicted to playing the Wii. He loves Batman and Spiderman and enjoys playing with Owen and Cutwer (Cutler).

Annie is definitely the boss. She loves to have things her way and is quite vocal about it when things don’t go her way. She loves ponies and would happily own every single one if she could. She’s also becoming quite the artist and has developed her own unique style.

We celebrated in the back yard on the 21st and had family over for cake and ice cream. As you can see, Emily made them fun cakes. Jack got Batman with a sweet Bat symbol and cityscape on the side and Annie got a cool pony cake (and she got to keep the pony). They gots lots of fun presents from their cousins and grandparents and we all had a good time.

Anyway, this is us chillin’ in the tent. Jack has apparently been watching too much BET or something cause I’m not sure where the gang signs came from (probably Hailey). I’ll have to beat it out of him (and her) later.

I suppose it would be fun to be jobless as long as you were independently wealthy so you could do something with your free time, but when your whole existence revolves around looking for a new job, it gets old quick. It has been nice spending more time with my kids, but I think my wife is ready for me to go back to work (as am I). So until then, I’ll just keep looking and I suppose maybe I’ll follow the twins example and just DANCE!!!

It’s been a crazy couple years, but we made it to 2 years old. I know there have been more than a few days when Emily didn’t think she’d survive this long, but she does a great job maintaining sanity. I’m not sure I’d have handled it as well if I was the one home all day. But now is when the real fun begins. Two little people running around with opinions, desires, growing vocabularies and lots of personality. In the past 2 years they’ve learned to love being “ouside”, eating “sodie” (cereal), watching Pixar movies, playing with toys and getting into lots and lots of trouble. I never ceased to be amazed at the crazy ways they find to get into stuff and cause problems. However, for all the hard work and challenge they bring to our lives, we couldn’t imagine life without them. So in honor of the birthday kids, here’s a bunch of pictures that range from the day we brought em home from the hospital to last week. We love you Annie and Jack!

On Monday Jack was puking most of the day and you could tell he felt pretty crappy. And now today Emily and Annie are both feeling pretty rotten. I think I may also be coming down with whatever it is and as I sit here thinking how crappy it is to feel crappy, I can’t help but think how it must suck 100 times worse when you have no idea why you feel bad and you have no way of expressing how you feel. It’s never good for anyone to feel sick, but I feel extra bad for the twins cause they have no idea what’s going on and they can’t really explain what they’re feeling. You can tell it’s a bit scary for them any time they throw up. They get a scared/confused look on their face like “Help me! My insides are falling out!”. I just hope we all get over it soon cause being sick blows.
