Back to School

Hailey started back to school on July 28th!  It  was a day for celebrating.  We got a new school this year.  It takes 10 minutes to walk to.  It is so nice to have it so close.  School ends 20 miinutes earlier and there isn’t a long bus ride home so I feel like we have gained an hour in each day.  It’s wonderful.  Hailey is  now a second grader and I am in shock.  I don’t know how this happened.  I remember everything about second grade because it was only a few years ago, so how do I have a daughter having these same experiences! Hailey’s teacher’s name is Emelie Larson.  Kind of funny huh? ( my maiden name is Emily Laursen, if you didn’t know) She seems very fun. There is a set of triplets in her class and atleast 4 kids, that we know of, have twins in their families! Crazy! So we think she belongs in this group. The strange thing about our track this year is that it is week three of school and we are going off track!

Go Falcon Ridge!

The World at a stand still

Well, at least at our house.  And only in the world of blogging.  Unfortunately everything else is still speeding by. The blogging world is frozen because our computer broke. (I didn’t do it) And Mike put all the blogging shortcut that I know how to use on the computer and not the laptop.  So because fixing the computer is on  the list of broken stuff a little too far down, I am going to give a quick up date and have Mike add the pictures later!

Mallory finished up her soccer season.  She still asks everyday if she has soccer practice.  I think she really liked it.

The girls started  swimming lessons.  Hailey is a little nervous about it but she has hung in there.

The girls had their dance recital.  Hailey did a great job.  Mallory did a great job too!! This was a shock and a huge improvement from the Christmas recital when she jumped off the stage to me.IMG_2937

Jack and Annie had their 9 month check up.  Jack is a nice                    18 1/2 pounds and Annie is just over 17 pounds.  They are both doing great.   I think Annie is a little taller than Jack but is is hard to tell because getting them to stand still is impossible.  They are crawling everywhere….fast and pulling themselves up to everything.  They are even trying to stand alone and walk behind things. I was hoping this would come a lot later but it might be nice to have them walk instead of carrying them all the time. But the time has come at our house to once again baby proof.  The gate is up, the plugs are in, doors are shut, the blinds are raised,  and the third shelf is still not high enough. We find them everywhere.  In the house they are good to stick together and follow each other but outside they go separate ways!IMG_2975 IMG_2958

Places we have found Jack…..(Annie started crawling later so we had rearranged the house by then and she seems to have a little more reserve to situations!)

IMG_2871IMG_2867 IMG_2866IMG_2868 IMG_2858 IMG_2914 I did find Annie under my bed.  She likes to take the thighmaster under there to play.

Hailey got the Soaring Eagle award at school.  She had a list of things she had to pass off and present and she did a great job.  She memorize some pretty funny poems!  So now it is on to second grade.  She gets to go to the new school they built.  Falcon Ridge Elementary is about a 10 minute walk from our house.  If the neighbors house in front of us was not there, we would be able to see it from our front porch.  We are too spoiled!

Jessie and fam came for a visit at the end of May.  We had lots of fun.  We look forward to their next visit.  Hailey already has a few plans up her sleeve!

Locks of Love

Posted by Emily on June 23rd, 2008

Hailey has been growing her hair out.  She wanted to cut it short and give it to Locks of Love.  She had to wait and wait because it needed to be long for her dance recital.  But the morning after the recital Shelley cut Hailey’s long hair.  11 inches later Hailey has a super cute cut.  She looks so grown up! It has been great.

At our house the girls fight every morning about who has to get their hair done first so it is nice to have the time cut in half.  In fact the morning after the cut I called the girls to the bathroom to get their hair done and the fight started.  I told them to both come because Hailey’s wouldn’t take very long.  So Mallory announced that she too would like her hair cut short!

Happy Birthday to Hailey

I can’t believe my Hailey is 7.  The time has gone so fast.  I really feels like it was yesterday that we got to see her for the first time.  We couldn’t believe how perfect she was despite her cone head! At 6:20am she came to us.  I had a c-section so she got to meet her grandparents and dad before she got to visit with me, but I will never forget the millions of feelings swirling in my head when I finally got to hold her.

Hailey is very creative.  She writes and draws all day. She is very smart.  She uses such big words and has since she started talking.  I know I don’t talk like that so it must be from her dad!  She is a huge helper and a good friend.

Yesterday we had our family come over to celebrate with us. Today we had a little party with a few of Hailey’s cute friends.  We had all kinds of giggles going on.  Even  Mallory and Annie were just one of the girls! Jack was a little grumpy.  It’s hard being the odd man out! I think that Hailey has very much enjoyed turning 7.  And I know that I have very much enjoyed having her around for the last 7 years.  She has taught me so much and I am glad for every minute of it.  We love you Hailey and are very proud of everything you do.

These are the cousins on the Haymond side born in 2007. Annie is going to have to keep these boys in order! How cute, they all have the same hair cut!

Our budding author

Today Hailey brought me another paper she wrote.  She always has a pen and notebook with her.  She writes me love letters during Sacrament meeting and write everybody’s names on the bus ride home.  She writes tons and tons of stories.  Yesterday she made up a survey for all of us to take during family home evening.  And she wrote her own talk to tell us about the survey.  I find myself in a pinch because I want to save all of these papers but I would seriously need a bigger house especially because Mallory is following suit now that she has discovered the alphabet.

Well the paper that Hailey brought me today was special.  Not that the others aren’t, but this one was a song.  She wrote it all by herself.  I only helped spell a few words.  I wish I could scan it in so you could see her handwriting (and spelling).  I also wish that I knew how to put video on so she could sing it for you.  I have had her sing it  a few times and the tune doesn’t change much so she really must mean it.  Here are the lyrics…..

I want to see my children praying to thy Lord.                                         They will feel the Spirit coming and I will be proud of them.                     I will be there when they need me and I will feel the Spirit too.              And I will feel It too.
