There are a few updates I’ve wanted to make to the site for a while now, but until today I haven’t really had time to work on them. Well (as you can probably guess by this post), I finally got some time to get them built in. It was a bit more effort than I had anticipated, but I think these updates make the site look a little better and make it a bit easier to navigate.

The first update is the transition from the old right-hand navigation links to a new tab setup up top. I prefer tabs to links in most cases for blog sites cause it just seems easier to keep track of where you are in the site. Plus is looks better as well. The second update is located up in the header as well, but it’ll take you a few visits to figure out what it is. It will also become more obvious as I add additional… “options” for this update to take advantage of. Check back often to see if you can figure out what it is.

Yesterday was Mike’s 31st birthday. We are so lucky to have him. He is a great husband and a wonderful dad. I don’t know what I would do without him. We met each other 9 years ago on a blind date. I was with his friend and he was with my friend. The next weekend he asked me out and we have been dating ever since. He is my opposite in many things and I think that is why we work. He balances me out. I truly need him. In these 9 years I have learned many things about Mike so in honor of his 31 years on this earth here are 31 things you should know about Mike…

1. He loves his Jeep 2. He likes anime movies 3. He still wears his favorite Nikes from high school (gross) 4. His favorite ice cream is Breyer’s Mint Chocolate Chip 5. He always has a pocket full of Gobstoppers 6. He can fix our broken down cars 7. He once bought speakers from a guy in a parking lot (they were probably stolen so don’t ever try that) 8. He secretly wants to be a rock star and practices Guitar Hero all the time 9. Loves his music 10. Loves computers 11. Has half a basement full of computer parts just in case he ever needs them 12. Still has his jelly bracelets from the 80′s 13. Owns a sea foam green leisure suit 14. Won’t kill a spider (not because he thinks its wrong!) 15. Has the Training Table menu memorized (he proudly worked there in high school) 16. Has learned to like driving the van 17. Eats the same lunch every day, peanut butter and jam sandwich, Lays potato chips and a ding dong. 18. Hung his deer antlers in the garage for me (until the basement is finished) 19. Changes diapers (unless they are really messy) 20. Thinks The Office is a funny show 21. Eats Skittles by sorting them into colors and eats them in a certain order 22. Asked me to marry him on Easter 23. Hates Hates Hates mornings 24. Has the drive to Bear Lake memorized 25. Loves my family 26. Loves his family 27. Has to sit down to hold both the babies! 28. Holds me while I cry 29. Knows how to relax 30. Calms me down 31. He loves me!

I love you Mike!

It’s kinda been a busy week, but that’s really no excuse for this post being late. But since Mallory can’t read yet, I don’t think she’ll really mind.

On Thursday Mallory turned 4 years old. Which is odd because she seems older than that to me. I think it’s just because of the fact that she tends to play on Hailey’s level a lot so it makes her seem older than she is. She was excited for her birthday and for all the presents she expected to get and I’m pretty sure she wasn’t disappointed. She got lots of good presents (with more to come on Sunday) and she even got to go get a Frosty with Nolan for lunch on Thursday. She was apparently expecting decorations to be put up for her “celebration”, but the fact that we didn’t decorate didn’t seem to effect her much.

Anyways… Happy Birthday Mal!! Only 1 more year till she’s school age (yikes).

Just kidding…

I just wanted to let you know how much we all love and appreciate you. All growing up I had a healthy respect (fear) for you and I thought I appreciated everything you did for us. As I get older though, my respect grows as I come to realize how much you sacrificed and gave for us. I think of all the evenings at football practice, all the weekends at Lake Powell, all the days we went skiing. The list goes on and on and I just wanted to say thanks for that. I just hope I can be as good a Dad to my kids as you were to us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

It really happened. Today my family came and laid our sod. It was so exciting. After 3 years of very hard work we only have to wait a week more and we can have a picnic on our own lawn. (unless it snows!) Mike has worked so hard on our yard. We had to build a huge retaining wall all around our house. Then we had to fill the yard in to level it out. Mike has done an amazing job of getting it very level. I don’t think it could get any flatter! All the neighbors told us that it makes our house look different. I think it does too. Now it looks like a home.

A huge thanks to my dad for all the help and the sod. Our family has been great to come and help us with our big project. We are so blessed and loved.

We can’t wait for Spring now. The girls have all kinds of plans for summersaults and cartwheels. No more dirt castles and hopefully less dirt in the house. In fact today I swept the floor after the yard work and instead of just finding a big pile of dirt like I usually do, I found little blades of grass mixed in. It was so exciting. So, bring on the grass stains!

So we’ve got a couple quick announcements for today…

The first announcement is that we saw the seasons first snow today. Now in case you’re wondering, I’m not excited about this. I’ve got a couple weeks left worth of work to get done on the yard so I really need the snow to just back off. Today’s snow didn’t stick at all, but I’m not too optimistic about how long it’ll stay away.

Now for today’s second announcement…

This one is a bit more fun than the last and involves my brother Scott’s new ride. Over the last couple years he’s been upgrading cars slowly, but yesterday he went and picked up by far the best one yet… his bright new Chili-red Mini Cooper S.

He let me drive it around the block and I think I may need to get me one of those.

Today I lost my first tooth. And by lost, I mean it’s gone!

I was eating some Marshmellow Mateys this morning when my tooth decided to come out in the middle of a bite. The only problem is that it decided to fall in instead of out and now it’s resting in my tummy with my breakfast.

I was a little worried that the tooth fairy wouldn’t come because I don’t have a tooth to put under my pillow, but I’m going to fool her by putting a drawing of my tooth under my pillow instead. Now I just hope she remembers to bring my thousand-million-hundred-thousand dollars.

Check out the pictures of my new smile hole.
