Halloween

So this year’s Halloween activities weren’t exactly what we had planned, but we still ended up with more candy than we know what to do with. This year the kids dressed up as Sharpay from High School Musical (Hailey), Dorothy (Mallory), Little Bo Peep (Annie) and Jack was a Sheep. We had a couple days worth of Halloweening including a party at Grandma’s house and a pretty crazy round of trunk-or-treating at the park.

Cuttin’ Wood

So I’m sort of going back in time here a bit as I try to catch up on a few recent events. About a month ago I took the girls up to Bear Lake for the weekend for our annual wood cutting event. Every year we cut down several trees to use as firewood through the winter and this year the girls got to help a bit. It always makes for a fun weekend (even if a tiring one) and this year was no different. And as an added bonus Hailey and Mallory got to play with Nana and Papa’s new puppy Dixie.

The Hunt…

This years deer hunt got started a little crazy due to scheduling issues, but we all had a great time and both Stephen and I got our deer. Stephen shot his at about 290 yards about 10 minutes after we left the trucks Saturday morning and I got mine at around 240 yards late Sunday afternoon. The bonus to this was that we didn’t have to worry about hunting on Monday, the downside was that I ended up cleaning and hauling it in the pitch black Saturday night. There was no moon out either so when I say pitch black, you can take it literally. In the downtime though we found time to shoot some clay pigeons and to ride Tony’s horse around camp. All in all it was a successful hunt though and as usual, we had lots of fun.
