Motorcycle Fun…

Posted by Mike on May 28th, 2008

We were over at Grandpa’s house the other day and the kids all got motorcycle rides (technically the twins just got to sit on it for a picture). Hailey and Mallory love motorcycle rides and Grandpa’s bike is especially fun to ride on cause its like sitting in a La-Z-Boy.

A Day At The Mine

Posted by Mike on May 28th, 2008

For a quick Memorial Day activity, we decided to head up the canyon and visit the Kennecott copper mine. I hadn’t been up there since my eighth birthday so I was interested in seeing how it had changed in the years between. For those that don’t know, Kennecott is the largest open pit mine in the world and can actually be seen from space (I assume they mean without magnification, but who knows).

We went up with Grandma, Grandpa, Jessica, Wally, Will and Georgia. I’m not really sure what the kids thought of the mine itself, but they seemed to enjoy the visitors center at least. Will was especially excited about all the toy tractors they had on display. Luckily they were all contained within plexiglass displays or else Will would have a tractor fest and played with every single one of them. It’s fun to see kids get so excited about such simple things and it makes me wish I could still experience that level of excitement just by seeing a few shelves full of tractors. Anyway… here’s some pictures of our excursion.

Those trucks are FREAKIN’ HUGE!!

You’re Doing It Wrong!

The other day Jack was having a bit of a hard time with the saucer. He’s spent enough time in it that he knows how it works, but he apparently thought he could get in from the bottom. The pictures below show the result of that attempt. He wasn’t too happy with the results.

Happy Memorial Day!

Posted by Mike on May 28th, 2008

I realize that this is a day late, but I saw a commercial over the weekend that reminded me how thankful I am for the thousands of individuals who willingly put their personal safety on the line every day so that I can enjoy the freedoms I’ve come to expect here in the U.S. It’s long been said that beer ads are some of the best, but this Memorial Day tribute by Anheuser Busch really touched me. I have nothing but respect for the men and women of the U.S. armed forces, both past and present, and the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe. So here’s to the troops out there getting it done.

Thank you.

Site Updates…

Posted by Mike on May 23rd, 2008

There are a few updates I’ve wanted to make to the site for a while now, but until today I haven’t really had time to work on them. Well (as you can probably guess by this post), I finally got some time to get them built in. It was a bit more effort than I had anticipated, but I think these updates make the site look a little better and make it a bit easier to navigate.

The first update is the transition from the old right-hand navigation links to a new tab setup up top. I prefer tabs to links in most cases for blog sites cause it just seems easier to keep track of where you are in the site. Plus is looks better as well. The second update is located up in the header as well, but it’ll take you a few visits to figure out what it is. It will also become more obvious as I add additional… “options” for this update to take advantage of. Check back often to see if you can figure out what it is.
