Jumping Over Dinosaurs…

Posted by Mike on February 26th, 2008

This past Saturday evening I decided to run and fill the fuel tank in the Jeep because it was basically empty and I didn’t really want to have to worry about doing it Monday morning on my way to work.  It was getting late-ish, but we had just arrived home from dinner at the neighbors and the girls were anything but tired so they decided to come with me.  We drove down to the nearest Maverik and I hopped out to start the pump.  I got things started and then jumped back in the jeep because it was rather chilly and I’m a cold wuss.  As we sat in the Jeep waiting for the tank to fill Mallory very seriously asked me if gas came from trees.  I was a tad confused about how she would have come to that conclusion until I looked over and noticed the Maverik sign…

Mallory had obviously deduced that gas came from trees because there were trees on the sign.  I chuckled to myself and then tried to think of the easiest way to explain where gas comes from without getting into an incredibly long and frustrating conversation with a 4 year old.  I decided to oversimplify a bit and said “well…  gas comes from petroleum that comes out of the ground and petroleum is made from dead dinosaurs.”  There was a little bit of discussion about how dinosaurs could turn into oil, but once the girls were satisfied with my explanation, Hailey’s mad deductive reasoning skills kicked in and she made the following observation…

“So that means when we jump over the oil spots on the garage floor, we’re really jumping over dinosaurs.”

Hard to argue with that.

No Time

One thing that I haven’t figured out about having twins is how to have enough time.  I NEVER have time to finish anything.  The house cleaning is only done  in little bursts of time so it isn’t up to standard, we have more Little Caesar’s Pizza than we should, and the laundry never gets folded because it’s time to wear it before I get it put away.  Mike has always teased me because I am a huge list maker. My favorite time of year is when school supplies go on sale.  I stock up on 10 cent notebooks.  I fill my notebooks with lists … lists of everything.  I can use up a whole 70 page notebook in a week. These days it’s different. I have had the same notebook for 6  months now and I have never felt more unorganized in my entire life.  It is kind of giving me anxiety attacks to not have control of my life and time.  So in hope that I would feel less claustrophobic in my life I had Shelley cut my hair.  My hair is so thick that blow drying it takes forever so by cutting it off I have already saved 40 minutes a day! I love it! And I can’t think of any one sweeter to be stealing all of my time than my beautiful family.

All About The Retro…

Posted by Mike on February 15th, 2008

This post has absolutely nothing to do with anything except the fact that I saw the commercial for the new Knight Rider series again this evening. After seeing that commercial it got me to thinking… it seems like Hollywood has completely run out of creativity. I can think of several popular 80′s franchises that they’ve tried to resurrect over the past few years in an effort to hide their lack of original thought. But I guess as long as they’re working to bring back the dead, I can’t help but think that they’re missing one crucial 80′s series.

I mean… if they’re going to go to the trouble of bringing back the Duke boys, Battlestar Galactica, Transformers and Knight Rider, they may as well just go all the way. My suggestion/request consists of 3 simple words…

BRING BACK AIRWOLF!!!

UPDATE: I found the intro on YouTube so here you go…
