The grass is always greener…

It really happened. Today my family came and laid our sod. It was so exciting. After 3 years of very hard work we only have to wait a week more and we can have a picnic on our own lawn. (unless it snows!) Mike has worked so hard on our yard. We had to build a huge retaining wall all around our house. Then we had to fill the yard in to level it out. Mike has done an amazing job of getting it very level. I don’t think it could get any flatter! All the neighbors told us that it makes our house look different. I think it does too. Now it looks like a home.

A huge thanks to my dad for all the help and the sod. Our family has been great to come and help us with our big project. We are so blessed and loved.

We can’t wait for Spring now. The girls have all kinds of plans for summersaults and cartwheels. No more dirt castles and hopefully less dirt in the house. In fact today I swept the floor after the yard work and instead of just finding a big pile of dirt like I usually do, I found little blades of grass mixed in. It was so exciting. So, bring on the grass stains!

Mike’s Music at Last.fm

Posted by Mike on November 9th, 2007

Not that anyone else cares, but I love my music. And I have lots of it. So, in an effort to help the world find some great new tunes to enjoy, I thought I’d share a bit.

I’ve added a nifty new Last.fm player to the bottom of the navigation on the right. If you’d like to listen to any of the tracks I’ve got listed in the playlist, just click the big fat play button. If you’d like to see what else I’ve been listening to lately, simply click on the “View Profile” link to check out my Last.fm profile page.

Enjoy!

A Haymond Halloween

Sorry that this post is a tad belated. We were planning to take a few more costume pics to stick in the collection, but we sorta forgot. Anyway, the collection below has a few pictures from Nana and Papa’s house, some pictures from the Omniture Halloween bash and a few pictures of the twins in their costumes at home. As you can probably tell, Halloween was a busy day for us, but the girls got lots of treats and we all had a good time.

Just to give a quick explanation of the (somewhat hard to see) pictures from my office… every year Omniture puts on a Halloween party where all the kids can come walk through the building and see the costumes and decorations. Each team throughout the building is given a “theme” and is then charged with decorating their workspace. In effect, this turned my entire office into a giant haunted house of sorts, except for the fact that our overall theme this year was Disney (because we just landed them as a client) so it was pretty kid friendly for the most part.

Of the pictures from my office you will notice the following: a conference room turned into a Finding Nemo aquarium (that was my group), a team that brought in a piece of basketball flooring to fit in with their High School Musical theme, lots of Pirates who I assume are from the Carribean, the seagulls from finding Nemo (my group again), Mickey and Minny Mouse (the upper management group did the Magic Kingdom with all associated princesses), Snow White and 7 actual dwarfs that were hired in from Las Vegas, a petting zoo (which was actually inside the office in case you’re wondering), the Indiana Jones experience/Jungle ride, as well as a Haunted Mansion area. And those were just the area’s that I took pictures of. There was also an Alice in Wonderland area (all black lit and very cool), Star Tours and a Buzz Lightyear section. It’s hard to describe just how insane it was around my office for 2 whole days as we set everything up and then let the kiddies come to visit. In fact, it was a big enough deal that KSL even came by to film us for a bit. The put together a little story about “Halloween in the workplace” so it’s not just about Omniture, but you can see the video they put together HERE.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures. In case you’re wondering, Hailey and Mallory were both Rapunzel. Emily made some long wigs for them out of yarn, but they were a bit heavy and kept falling off.

The Blessing

Posted by Mike on November 5th, 2007

So after 2 months we finally got around to blessing the twins yesterday. It was a beautiful fall day and lots of family showed up to attend. Afterwards we all headed over to our house for chocolate dipped snacks of all sorts (Emily bought a new chocolate fountain for the occasion). Laura even traveled all the way from England to be we us on this special day (she actually just happened to be in town, but it was good to have her there). Thanks to everyone who came and shared in the twins special day.
